HT600 continuous tone on receive

Post by techno »

I just acquired a HT600 VHF 6 channel radio which was working well when I got it and I succeded in messing it up. It was programmed on 5 channels in the 154 to 155 range and the sixth channel was 162.625 WX. It transmitted and received on the 5 154-155 range channels and received fine on the wx channel. I then tryed to program 5 channels in the 146 ham band range and one channel receive only in the 155 range. As soon as I was finished programming it it emits a continuous tone on receive. I can't go back because I did not save a copy of the original codeplug. The bandspit is correct at 146-162. After programming, it transmitts fine on all programmed channels but will not receive. Turning off the start up tone in rss stops the continuous tone but it still does not receive. What can I do to restore receive? Thanks,

Ron

It is my understanding, at least with portable radios like the HT1000, that a continuous beep on a channel means that that channel is NOT programmed for anything.
Radios I own: Spectra VHF 110W with A7 head, HT1000 VHF, ICOM IC-F30 VHF, and a Puxing PX-888 VHF.
Scanner I own: Radioshack Pro-164

If you want to get around the 16 mode scan limit on the Motorola Spectra, then read this guide and go to the original thread Here! 8)

Could be the rx vco is out of lock. I'd program a 155 channel into mode 1 to see what happens.

try unplugging one of the leads from the controller to the VCO, (enable all tones in RSS first). See if that makes the tone go away, this will confirm synthesizer out of lock. Are you SURE it's a 146-162 and not a 157-174? While you have the front off and are unhooking the leads to the VCO, take note of the bandsplit that is usually printed on the VCO board itself.

Thank you all for your reply's. You were all correct. I tried to program a 146MHZ freq in a radio with a 157-174 split. When I programmed a 155 freq in the radio it received fine. Now I have to read up on how to program out of band. Thanks again batlabbers and see you all at Dayton!

easy just edit the codeplug file in a text editor and overwrite the data, however the Genesis radios don't go too far out of their bandsplit. You may get 2-3MHz but a 157-174 split won't do the ham band. Lucky to get it down to 153.
