I don't know if it's a glitch in my RSS (ver R07.01.00) but seems every time I program a regular saber 2 this happens.
It comes up and says this radio only has 2k external memory. Then I check the 2k thing and it says if I choose to do this
it cannot be reversed by the field programmer.
Now maybe I'm not able to tell the difference between a 2k and an 8K but... anyway I am counting 5 chips on these boards.
Anyway someone enlighten me please.

Re: Programming old saber 2's
Follow the procedure on batlabs to recover the radio. If a 2K code plug is forced into an 8K radio the radio will then be 2K until fixed. I found many fed surplus radios this way
Re: Programming old saber 2's
I did that. The display said err 081. Then I made a new codeplug. Tried to program it in. RSS says it's 2k. I had no choice but to set the 2k thing.
I counted the chips in the shield. There are 5.
What do I do now?

Re: Programming old saber 2's
Its been a while since I played with sabers. I had the same happen. I tried to intentionally corrupt the codeplug trick also. It worked once in a while. Most times I sucked it up and left it as a 2k. Latley sabers are so abundant and cheap its just easier to swap a front with a known 8K front from a different bandsplit radio.
Re: Programming old saber 2's
You have to be very fast. Let no more than two dots appear. Then program it with an 8K codeplug. I have had 100% pass rate.
We no longer use Sabers so I have not done it in a while.
