I currently have 2 of these radios in service along with 2 MTR2000's with a voter amd 2 receiver sites in the 451.55-454.000 frequency range
One of the 1225's duplexers was described by the shop tech as "not the hottest ticket in town". Transmits well RX could be better.
I would like to keep the repeater as a backup or link repeater and purchase a MTR3000 in the near future but funds are tight and budgets have been cut.
1. What is a decent duplexer in place of the standard Celwave stock duplexer.
2.Is it cost effective to put a duplexer (new or gently used)that I could handle a 100 watt amp. and wait a few years to replace the 1225 with the latest and greatest.
Thanks
Mark

Re: GR1225 Duplexer replacement
Mornin' Mark. The standard Celwave duplexer is about as good as they get as far as small size, low cost, durability, and efficiency. They don't fail very often. However, because they are reject only duplexers, they are not good candidates for busy RF sites. A four section pass duplexer is more appropriate, but their physical size requires they be connected externally with replacement jumpers. Tessco carries a number of duplexers, and good ones come available at various web sites (like this board) that would work for you. The standard duplexer out of a UHF MSF, MTR, or Micor repeater would be a good choice. Building cables and fabricating a mount would be your only hassle.

Re: GR1225 Duplexer replacement
Mark,
PM me, i might have a duplexer in my backroom that had 5 years of light service, before being relocated to a diff site which had a different cavity system. I'm pretty sure it's already on 452/457...and i'm local to ya, so it won't kill ya on shipping.
If you want me to go look at it, and dust it off, i can...
