Spectra adding a codeplug to archive?

Post by dvoice »

Hi All, Thanks for helping me last time. How do you add codeplugs using the "F3" Add Archive command in spectra R.06? I have dropped the codeplugs into the archive folder and cannot see them when I try adding them. I am typing in something wrong. I would like to look at the codeplug to see what radio its for. I'm looking for a D44KXA7JA7BK codeplug. I purchased a unit off eBay and the unit did not have an MLM board. I have one MLM from an 800 mhz rig. I have moved it over and bit banged it which was fun. Now I need a good codeplug.

If you notice there is a file in the folder that ends in .dbf. this is where the software keeps track of the individual codeplug files it knows about. Just adding a file into the directory does nothing for the program to see it. The file needs to be listed in the dbf file. You can look at this file in a number of ways, but the new file your trying to use has to be included in the database of this file.

Once you copy the codeplug into the archive folder, you have to go into RSS and actually add the codeplug to the database. This is done using the "add archive" function. When you do this, you will see two blank fields open in your list; in the first field you type in the full name of the codeplug file - make sure that you leave off the "period" - you then have the serial number of the radio. In the second field, you can type text that identifies the customer, radio, etc. as additional information. Hope this helps.

Now I understand the codeplugs name is the sn of the radio. The first character is added to the dos name of the file by the RSS. My RSS is adding an A to the sn. The sn is 10 characters long, drop the first character and the . point and you have the sn. Why did they make it so hard? Thanks for the pointers, I'm sure I'll be back for more.

After looking at all the codeplugs with the RSS. I do not have a compatable codeplug. The story goes I purchased a Spectra Model D44KXA7JA7BK from Ebay. Received the radio with no MLM board installed. I've installed an MLM board from an 800 MHz Spectra and I'm not having any luck with the UHF radio. Does the MLM board need to be erased and reconfigured or do they come from the factory configured for that radio only?
