I have a MTS2000 that was programmed to receive only by my local fire dept. They have since added more talkgroups that I would like to add to my MTS2000.

Do you need to have a system key to do this? All I want to do is add the new talkgroups nothing more.

I have access to CPS R01.05.14, I would send it back to the FD to do it, but I am affraid that it will take 6 months like it did when they programmed it in the first place.

No. The only thing a system key prevents is modification to the system configuration.

Um, adding talkgroups IS a modification of the system configuration, you definitely need a system key to add talkgroups to a personality. If the talkgroup ALREADY exists in the personality, you can then add it to the Zone/Channel assignment without a system key.
