VRS 750 and Astro Spectra "Settings"
Hello. I searched and I couldn't find anything related to my particular problem. I just got my VHF astro spectra plus with a UHF vrs. I'm trying to do channel steering, and I've got all that down to an art (I hope) but I have a humming noise when I use the VRS. I can't get it out. Now mind you I fried my UHF mts and I've ordered another one and right now I'm using an HYT portable which could be the problem. I guess I'm asking if anyone has any tricks in programming to keep the audio in as good condition as possible.
That continues to my next question/request. There's so much in an astro spectra plus programming if anyone has any little tricks to get the radio do sound better, louder, etc. Basically anything anyone has ran into to make the radio better I'd appreciate knowing.
Thanks!

Is the hum on the UHF side, or VHF? TX, or RX, or both?
My first guess is the HYT has the CTCSS level set high, but that is only a guess.
As far as the Astro Spectra Plus audio quality, I like to be sure and have up to date firmware. Again, are you talking about TX, RX, or both?

Re: VRS 750 and Astro Spectra "Settings"
Its when I key the HYT and transmit through the VRS. I'm hoping its the HYT but I wont know that for a couple days until I get that mts2000 in.
I don't hear any hum coming from the vrs when i listen to it on a scanner.
of course, we're talking about HYT's - its like a programmable family radio....that sucks!
also, when I talk about settings, there's so many AGC settings and treble controls and emphasis, its tougher than a Maxtrac! lol

Re: VRS 750 and Astro Spectra "Settings"
I just thought of a question I've had now for a couple weeks,
how much does it cost to add the option to "scan with vrs" into an astro spectra plus?

Re: VRS 750 and Astro Spectra "Settings"
As far as I know, nothing, because it's a standard option on the Astro25 mobile platform.ARfire735 wrote:how much does it cost to add the option to "scan with vrs" into an astro spectra plus?
Re: VRS 750 and Astro Spectra "Settings"
In the last year I had a UHF VRS750 to VHF Astro Spectra with an audible hum in both directions through the VRS that was cured by swapping out the Spectra. The agency had spares, and they declined to have the mobile fixed. Dunno what the actual problem was. PL deviation looked good.

Re: VRS 750 and Astro Spectra "Settings"
My astro spectra plus has the scan with vrs greyed out where you can't use it. I searched and some say that's a flash option? I haven't a clue but scanning with my repeater on would be the berries!
Re: VRS 750 and Astro Spectra "Settings"
More information about your radio would be helpfull.

Appears my big mouth got opened too soon.
Scan with VRS is still a flashcode option on the XTL5000's (as it was on the Astro Spectras)... but it's not available on an Astro Spectra Plus. I would theorize that due to the limited amount of space in the FlashROM, that feature probably didn't get brought over.

I have an astro spectra plus, 800Mhz and the scan with VRS is enabled and it works. Scan with VRS is on an option in the flash code though.

I'm basing my information on what features you could get legitimately from Motorola. Whoreflashes are a whole 'nother ballgame.Josh wrote:I have an astro spectra plus, 800Mhz and the scan with VRS is enabled and it works. Scan with VRS is on an option in the flash code though.

i dont have a clue how flashcodes work, but "by hook or by crook" I'd like to have scan with vrs
