PR400 Progrmming

Post by HAZMAT »

Hello,

I purchased 3 Motorola PR400 radios with chargers last fall from a auction house, at the time of purchase all radios worked fine. I charged the radios for a job last week and they will not communicate with each other?
Do they require reprogramming? if so I am willing to purchase software from Motorola (RVN4191N)
How hard is it to program these radio's?
Can I purchase a cable from Ebay and program my self?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

What radios do you own?: Progreso soup can with CRT

Until you know for sure what setup you were using you're going to be stuck with the problem. These radios have two or more programmable buttons on them, one of which may be set for repeat/talkaround switching. If by chance you've been using a repeater owned by someone else they may have decided to cut you off by changing access tones. These radios also do LTR trunking, I think, so the problem may also lie in that area. In any event, to solve the problem the fastest way I'd take them to a Motorola shop and get the problem defined and then have the radios programmed to the channel or channels for which you have a license. If you don't need to be making constant programming changes there's no good reason to buy the software, cables, etc. and go through the learning curve for programming which will drive you nuts if you're not familiar with all of the ins and outs of the procedures used.
