Cloning a 100W Spectra

Post by JohnL »

I’m new a programming the Spectra with the RSS S/W. My problem is with the scan and zoning with my 100w spectra. I can’t get it to scan at all (I get a Beep when I press the scan button) and I can’t get the radio to move thru the zones. But I can move the mode switch thru all the frequencies I have programmed it to it. I’m sure I did something in the RSS software but I can figure out what. I did try to clone this radio with another radio (Spectra) with the same ID and MDL #. The other radio I cloned from works perfect, any recommendations on what to do.

Scan has to be enabled. Depending on the radio model, it is enabled on a per radio basis or a per zone basis.

Some Spectras are zonable, some are not. Go to "radio information" (F2, from memory) and it should tell you. If your radio is zonable, you have to enable the zone function and create and then populate the zones from the zone screen. Usually (indeed, I think always), scan in a zonable Spectra is on a per zone basis.

The MLM boards have much to do with the zone funtion on the Spectra. You should go read in the batlabs.com
site for the info on them and the zone requirements. Off the top of my head, I can't think what version of the
mlm board you need. Something like 6.0 or above comes to mind. Look on the tag on the mlm board to see
what version you have.

I had the same problem with a Spectra. If you search the board and look for "spectra scanning" you should find a post that helped me with the RSS software and programming the Spectra for scanning.
