Removing white out from volume control knob
My Dad recently gave me his ICOM 2720 dualband mobile. 8 years old, & used 3 hours. On the volume knob there is a line to tell from a distance where the level is set. Every knob has them. This line was hard to see, so he highlighted it with whiteout, or correctype. The liquid stuff to cover a typing error. Before I order new knobs from Icom, I was wondering if there is a solvent to remove this stuff without damaging the plastic knob. By the way, this stuff was invented by the mother of one of the Monkees, that TV band from the '60's. Thanks for the help. GARY N4KVE
Re: Removing white out from volume control knob
Try gently using Goo Gone. Squirt just a LITTLE BIT onto a paper towel, and apply very carefully, otherwise you might make an oily mess. Wherever Goo Gone is applied, it will be kinda shiny and oily. Bonus points if you can take the knobs off first before applying, so as to not worry about a mess. You might need to apply more than once. Nail polish remover might also work, but it seems like there's nothing a little Goo Gone can't handle.

Had some Goo Gone here, & it worked great. Took off the knobs first. Thanks. GARY N4KVE
