XTS3000 in XTS5000 case?

Post by Zach489 »

Looking to put an XTS5000 Model 1 case on an XTS3000 Model 1 radio. I figured if I use the original XTS3k vol/audio/channel electronics, being that the chassis is the same on both radios, the 5k case should fit the 3k radio. Is it possible? I liked the look of the 5k case better 8) . I could just save the hassle and get a 5k radio, but I don't have the extra cash at the moment.

Correct, all the side buttons and the PTT on a 5K are flex controlled. The 3K has actual push buttons on the housing.

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.
