Enable Control Head DTMF Tone generation

Post by W2MB »

How do you enable DTMF tone generation via the keypad matrix on a Syntor X9000 control head? I've tried programming one of the indicator buttons for PHONE and then for DTMF and neither would cause the keypad matrix to generate DTMF tones. In both cases, when pressing the indicator button, the adjacent red lamp blinks a couple of times, a tone sounds, and the lamp goes out. I also tried changing the 1-9 keypad buttons from MODE to NO FUNCTION. Am I mistaken in believing that the keypad matrix can be used to generate DTMF tones? There is no option under the keypad programming for DTMF or PHONE, the options only appear under the indicator button programming menu.

What radios do you own?: FMR80D and a Motrac with Scan

In order to do DTMF you need a DTMF Option Board installed in the radio IIRC.
