I have a Model II UHF Astro Saber that I am trying to enter a list of IRLP repeaters into for ham use.
When I select the phone menu, the radio dials a DTMF access code, then I can select the IRLP code that I want to use, then it dials another DTMF hangup code, and then I have to go through the same process to hang-up the IRLP node when I am finished.
Is there are way to eliminate the DTMF access and hangup codes that the radio is automatically sending, and just be able to press PHON, select the IRLP code that I want from the menu, and transmit that without having all of these other codes being sent?
This has me stumped as I don't normally program DTMF codes into my radios...

Yes. Assuming you are using RSS:
-From the main screen after reading/opening the codeplug, go F4-->F3-->F4
-Make sure "Man Acc Live Dialing" is enabled.
-Go F8.
-Delete all but one table.
-Delete the numbers under "Access Code" and "Deaccess Code"
-F10 back out, save and write.
edit: Couple of additional steps
-Under each personality you want to have DTMF capability, make sure that "Hot Keypad" is enabled" and "Phone Operation" is set to Unlimited.
-Go F8 in the personality screen and select your blank auto access table under "Auto Access Code Select"

You can't have "Hot Keypad" and "Unlimited Dialing" on a model 2.

Ahh, didn't see the "Model II" bit. Knowing him, I'm sure it's a III in a II case.
