I am looking at purchasing a few XTL5000's with O5 control heads and I am curious as to how long it takes for radio to power up when used with the ignition sense. I have an XTL5000 with a W4 control head and it starts up instantly.
Thanks,
David

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

Why so long as the Astro Spectra head takes half the amount of time?

If you don't like the start up time, go to another radio model.
Most of the newer radios are all micro driven. It does take time for these radios to boot up. Go play
with any of the new models from most of the vendors. Even the Kenwood TK-5710, which is the comparable
model to the XTL5000 takes 7 or 8 seconds to be operator ready.

Re: XTL5000 Start Up Time
I have a UHF XTL (09.xx.xx firmware) that was damn fast on power-up when configured as an O5 dashmount; comparable to a XTS5000 portable. It didn't get slow until I reconfigured it as an O3 remote.
