Need help with OLD tube-based Quik Call I Encoder

Hi Group,

I have an *OLD* Motorola Quik-Call I encoder. It uses tubes and banana reeds to generate the audio.

The tone timing is incorrect, and I'd assume this is due to dried out electrolytic capacitors.

It's a model T1251B encoder. It has the following capacitors in it:

30uF 350VDC
20uF 350VDC
.001uF 200VDC
.5uF 400VDC

So questions:

1. Does anyone happen to have a manual for this relic laying around, or at least a pinout for the terminal strip on the rear of it?

2. What capacitors can I replace these with? They are all electrolytic axial capacitors, but the values seem difficult to locate. Any ideas?

Would like to get this thing working properly for fun. Definitely a historic piece not to be parted with.

For your caps, start here: http://www.tubesandmore.com/ These guys have a lot of stuff. Keep in mind newer caps will probably be physically smaller, so no worries on getting them to fit.

It would be nice to find a manual for this unit so I can interface it to a radio. It really serves no purpose, but it's definitely approaching an antiquity, and I have the mobile decoders for it as well.

I actually have a manual (somewhere). I'll have to do some digging, it has been a while since I used it.

Now you need a GGV, a T-Power, or a Broderick Crawford signature series radio to go with it.

We used to use these at fire department base stations in Monroe County NY. I'd love to have one to go with an old tape punch used to record alarm codes from the old telegraph (Gamewell?) alarm boxes. I canned my T43 radios long ago, but still have a Motrac and a 35W VHF Compastation.

Good luck with your restoration. Are. You using CZ-PZ reeds?
