CPS EMER ERR

Post by rescuer »

Hello all,

I recently purchased another PM400 for the FD and installed it with no problems. Pulled up a codeplug from another PM400, changed an ID here and there and cloned it. Now the problem:

Whenever the radio turns on it goes through the self test and says “EMER ERR”, then goes to the channel. The radio appears to operate normally. Approximately every 10-15 minutes the low pitch 'thud' sounds and EMER ERR shows on the display. Radio still continues to operate normally however.

What is EMER ERR? EMERgency ERRor? If so, the PM400 doesn't even have emergency encode, or at least I'm not aware of it. None of the other radios have ever given this error, and this is a cloned copy. Do I need to erase the codeplug and start from scratch?

I think the software version is R05.12 although I'm going off memory. The radio that I cloned from is maybe 2-3 years old.

Thanks again for any help.

My first guess without looking up the accessory connector is that your missing a jumper between the emergency pin and ground. Without this jumper, most of the Motorola mobile radios will go into the emergency mode. This causes the radio to transmit on the channel programmed for emergency. It can be set in the software to not do this, but it it much simpler to just make sure the jumper is in place.
