RIBBOX Doesn't working

Post by 112mark »

Hello All,

I hope that someone can help me.

I have build the ribbox from badlabs (http://www.batlabs.com/images/rib.gif)
Now i am trying to test if the ribbox is working propperly, only when i connect it to the pc it says ribbox is not responding. (i had not yet conected the radio).

When i conected the radio and turned it on het programma say's radio is not responding. So he recognise the radio but cant connect. The radio is a MX2000 (motorola)

The software is running under dos by a DOS bootdisk. and the pc is slow enough.

How can i check if the ribbox is working as it shoot be?

Thanks for your help.

There are issues with some of the RIB's not working on some computers. Check this roadmap as the resistor values changed to work better with the real RS232 standards.

Also: One of the problems might be a lack of negative voltage swing on the Busy out and RX (data out) lines back to the computer. You might want to try and change the value of R14 to 1.5k and R11 to 1K.

I have a much later 'edition' of the RIB coming soon, the schematic is being drawn up now, maybe a circuit board to build it, stay tuned!

Ooohhh i made a terrible mistake :o

I conected the 7805 wrong, now all the components get 12V and i have no negative voltage.

Tomorrow i am going to buy new components and test it again 8)

Thank you verry much for the advice i let you know when it is working (hopefully  )

My draftsman is dragging his feet plus he is overloaded with revenue jobs.
