Programming a CDM1250 w/Remote Head
One of our fire engines has a CDM1250 with 2 remote heads from the same radio. One head is mounted in the cab and the other is mounted on the pump panel. I have reprogrammed all of our other radios with some new frequencies but I haven't done this one yet. Can this be programmed through the mic jack on the remote head or do you need to find where the actual radio is mounted and do it that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

it's hit or miss doing a remote head thru the mic jack, you're usually better off putting the head back on the radio and then using the mic jack method or if you have the cable that pluggs into the 20 pin on the back that will always work either way.

Re: Programming a CDM1250 w/Remote Head
I actually just found this out the hard way. Someone at a neighboring ambulance service said they program through remote heads regularly with no problems. As for me I wasn't that lucky. I had to switch the radio in the fire truck with my personal cdm and I now have a radio with a eeprm cs error. Any ideas on how to unbrick it?

Re: Programming a CDM1250 w/Remote Head
first start by putting the head back on the radio. then open up a saved codeplug from that radio and take it down to a very basic programming with just one single channel and keep trying to force it into the radio, it may take the first time or it could take hundreds but you can usually get that back. but definately use a codeplug with minimum programming so if it does start to take it, it'll go quick. after you get the radio breathing again you can put the codeplug you want in it

Re: Programming a CDM1250 w/Remote Head
Thank you for the help. I've tried about 60 or 70 times so far to no avail but I'm willing to keep trying and hope that it comes back. I had a good saved codeplug and I took it down to 1 channel and deleted all of the MDC aliases, so hopefully with a little persistence it will take.
Re: Programming a CDM1250 w/Remote Head
You obviously figured this out but for future reference, you can't program dual head CDM's thru the remote heads. You have to unhook the Quickmount interface and go direct or use the rear accessory connector. You will brick them everytime if not. More than likely you will need to depot the radio to get it back.

you can always depot the radio but another option is update your cps to the newest and try the recovery option? or where are you located? possibly somebody local to you can help you out?

I am located near Pittsburgh, PA. The CPS I currently use is 06.10 I think. I'm not familiar with the recovery feature. Can anyone elaborate?
