Programming Spectra through mic connector?

Post by fire-medic8104 »

I know I have seen this before, but can't find it. Is it possible to program through the mic connector? It is just a pain with some of the consoles I deal with when some of these guys that install them don't leave enough slack to pull the radio out.

The only Spectra that will allow that is the Astro Spectra Plus. The legacy units, as well as the Astro units will not.

Remove the control head, two Allen socket head screws.

Then put a remote face plate on and program the radio thru the DB25 connector. Requires a simple jumper in the face plate or the 25 pin programming cable that turns on the radio.

We have a spare head made up with a programming cable soldered in, remove the screws & head, insert programming head and go. I can concur with people not leaving a service loop.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

I just came across a good head. Can't find my spectra service manual. Can anyone give me a pinout on what I need to solder to in order to make a programming head.

Edited: Meant that for spectragod. What pins did you solder to make it work?
