I do not have a serial port laptop so I am trying to program a Quantar with a laptop> USB> null adapter> quantar
The Motorola software looks like it trys to install drivers then it asks me to install the next disk that has the USB driver on it. I thought the standard motorola disk was suppose to have it and install it automatically? That is what the XTL 5000 & XTS 4000 software does.
Anyone have the USB driver they can email it to me?

Re: Quantar software asking for USB driver
If you are using a USB to serial adapter that was not supplied by Motorola, then the driver should have come with the adapter. Then, as far as the Moto software is concerned, it's just a serial port. It sounds like you've told the Moto software the Quantar is USB, which is not true.123 wrote:I do not have a serial port laptop so I am trying to program a Quantar with a laptop> USB> null adapter> quantar

This is my opinion, not Aeroflex's.
I WILL NOT give you proprietary information. I make too much money to jeopardize my job.
I AM NOT the Service department: You want official info, manuals, service info, parts, calibration, etc., contact Aeroflex directly, please.

Re: Quantar software asking for USB driver
Understood, I never needed a driver for this adapter to work in other applications, but I guess motorola is picky.
I will try to do some research and see if the OEM company has a driver for this item.
Thanks

- What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's
Re: Quantar software asking for USB driver
that's a pretty expensive peice of equipment to risk with a usb adaptor. simplest solution is find or borrow a computer with a real serial port. motorola software does not like usb unless motorola actually made a usb cable for those radios
