Pro Series CPS 6.11.05 Released (EEPROM CS Error help)
I.
Enhancements
Item #1: Codeplug Recovery
The CPS now has the capability of recovering some cases of “EEPROM CS ERROR” failure mode. The location of the corruption must be in the CPS modifiable area of the codeplug for the failure mode to be corrected. The radio will be programmed with a factory default codeplug during the recovery. If the corruption location is not in the CPS modifiable area, the radio will not be recovered by CPS.
II.
Corrections
Item #1: Microsoft Vista Compatibility Issue
This release corrects a Microsoft Vista Compatibility issue that caused the CPS to crash.
Item #2: Programming in Test Mode
The CPS will now place the radio in test mode before programming is started.
Item #3: Error Message Change
Error messages changed for user clarity.
III.

Re: Pro Series CPS 6.11.05 Released (EEPROM CS Error help)
i've always wondered about if having it got into a test mode or on standby would help any. anyone ever been programing one and out of nowhere it sounds like tones going off with a constant tone or just totally recieving on the current channel it's on until it resets? i always tried to put it on a channel i knew wouldn't be recieving anything when i do that line of radios.

Re: Pro Series CPS 6.11.05 Released (EEPROM CS Error help)
Anybody try this yet? CPS cant find the default codeplug for a aam25skd9aa2an when i try to recover from an eeprom error. This would be a handy feature except it doesnt work.
Waris CPS R06.11.05 now w/ Unbrick Function
It's true. I've tried it, and it works (unbricked 3 HT750's this morning).
You have to know, though, the unbrick process isn't perfect. If a
non-cps alterable part of the CP gets borked, you'll have to send it
back to Mexico.
Also, this rev of the CPS is kinda buggy; I have found that after
you unbrick the radio, you really should kill and restart the CPS
before loading the customer's codeplug. Even though, I've had
to do the unbrick/reprogram 'dance' a few times before I got the
customers codeplug to go in successfully. It seems to vary with
the radio. It helps if you remove then re-attach the battery
from the radio before loading the customers codeplug.
I think they've finally put in an enhancement that's actually
worth the cost of the subscription. It only took them ten years.
Of course, if you have LAB s/w you can ignore this and just
go about your business. . . ..

Professional Radio - Customer Programming Software R06.11.05
================================================================
Enhancements in this release:
---------------------
N/A
Fixed Reported Issues:
----------------------
- Enhancement CPS reading and writing feature: if target radio's codeplug is corrupt, CPS will try to recover the target radio with default codeplug.
Note: When programming radio, radio will display the message "Test Mode" for a while, which is a different but normal behavior compare to previous version.
- To avoid confusion, rephrase the secondary pop up warning message "The device is not supported by the application"
as "The CPS operation on this device failed. Please refer to the readme file for possible reasons."
Note: The most possible reasons (but not all) to see the secondary pop up warning message are:
(1) The target radio model number mismatch CPS archive file.
(2) The target radio region ID is not supported by the CPS.
(3) The target radio codeplug mismatch with the CPS.
(4) CPS password verification failed when write radio.
(5) CPS and radio communication error.
System Requirements:
--------------------
Operating Systems: Windows 95, Windows 98, Window NT 4.0,
Windows ME, Windows 2000 Professional,
Windows XP (Home and Office), Windows Vista(32 bits edition)
Hardware Requirements:
Processor Pentium II 333 or higher
Memory 64 MB RAM recommended
Hard Disk Space 16 MB minimum Free Space
Peripherals Microsoft Windows supported Mouse or Trackball
Microsoft Windows supported Serial Port for radio communication
Microsoft Windows supported Printer Port for report printing
1.44 MB 3 1/2 inch Floppy Disk Drive
CD-ROM for software installation
Known CPS Issues:
----------------
1) If your PC is running the first release of Microsoft Windows 95
and Internet Explorer has not been installed, you may experience
problems in installing and running the CPS due to certain
components of the operating system being out of date.
To eliminate this problem two Microsoft patches have been included
on the CPS CD. If you experience any problems under Windows 95,
please go to the CD and run:
/Win95Patches/40comupd.exe
/Win95Patches/dcom95.exe
and then re-install the CPS.
2) On some PCs, the CPS may abnormally terminate if Print Preview
is attempted on the Print Custom screen. This problem only occurs
when Print All is selected. This problem has been observed on
Compaq Windows 98 computers with the following programs running:
* Easy Access Internet Program (cpqEasyAcc.exe)
* Compaq Internet Watchdog Program (watchdog.exe)
If this CPS function is to be used, it is recommended that these
programs be removed from the PC startup.
3) When the tree view is printed some nodes may overlap on the
printout and an extra blank page may be printed. This issue
is more likely to occur on large codeplug configurations.
4) On some printers, the columns in some printed tables might be
slightly wider than they should be, causing the table to spread
horizontally onto a second page.
5) Emergency Revert Personalities assigned on the Signaling Configuration Page
will not be tracked if the personality being referenced is moved in the tree
view.
6) On certain HP Laserjet printers the Print Summary option will only print
one page. If you experience this problem, it is recommended that you first
save the information to a file and then use any Editor (Word, Wordpad, etc..)
to open the file and print the summary information.
7) When in Windows ME and Windows XP, sometimes an extra set of scroll bars get
displayed when viewing certain screens.
Programming Hints:
------------------
1) It should be noted that a new/added conventional personality
must be assigned to a zone/channel position. To add a zone to
a radio click the "+" in a Personality Assignment to Zone
Window. To add a conventional personality to the radio, click
the "+" on a Conventional Personality Window. To add an
additional conventional personality to a zone go to the
Personality Assignment to Zone:Channel window for the
desired zone. Click the right mouse key within the channel
table to add a conventional personality entry. Please read
the CPS help for additional information.
2) Speed Dial buttons should not be programmed to the P1, P2, and
P3 buttons on radios, which overlay these buttons with the menu
navigation keys. The speed dial buttons will not operate
in this configuration because the buttons function as the menu
navigation keys when phone mode is entered.
3) When adding a new conventional personality, verify that the
bandwidth selected on the Conventional Personality Basic screen is
correct. Incorrect selections will lead to poor radio
performance.
You have to know, though, the unbrick process isn't perfect. If a
non-cps alterable part of the CP gets borked, you'll have to send it
back to Mexico.

Why release it???
I just thought "codeplug error" was an easy way for the Mexirola Depot to make some money.

Yes.

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Re: Pro Series CPS 6.11.05 Released (EEPROM CS Error help)
unfortunately, the answer is no as the latest CPS only recovers radios with EEPROM CS Error (cps programming region). Your radio is having corruption at the hardware region in the codeplug and needs to be send back to depot for flashing.arlojanis wrote:I have a CDM1550 LS with EEPRM HW ERROR. Will this CPS fix it? unless you have a tool to load a complete entire codeplug structure into the radio though(must be the same radio band etc).

Re: Pro Series CPS 6.11.05 Released (EEPROM CS Error help)
How do you get the upgrade to the CPS. I have a license through Motorola and I have not received an update? I have an EEPRM CS ERROR so this would work great!

If it is not there you need to contact Customer Service and ask them to have it added to your account
Re: Pro Series CPS 6.11.05 Released (EEPROM CS Error help)
Thank you for the insight. I just had a cs error this morning. I was a couple versions back. Loaded 6.11.10, and it took care of me. Muchas gracias.
