APX 7000 Flashcode

Post by THE UNKNOWN »

Can a APX 7000 radio with the following flashcode be programmed with a Advanced System Key?
981218-011793-7

Or does the flash require option QA01648.

Futher the same question with the Legacy SW Key or do you need QA01749 in the flashcode?

Thank you.

It is a requirement that you have the ASK loaded to program or modify any TRS in an APX7K at this time.

This is what your flash decodes to:

Q806: ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
G996: Over the Air Provisioning
Q498: Hardware Multikey Encryption w/ OTAR
QA00569: Primary Band: 700/800
QA00574: Secondary Band: VHF
QA00579: Enable Dual Band Operation
H38: SmartZone Systems Operation
QA00782: Enable GPS Operation
Q947: APCO Packet Data Interface
Q53: FCC FPP And Radio Cloning
Q387: Conventional Voting Scan
Q173: SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation
QA00580: Enable TDMA Operation
Q361: ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking
Q445: Fireground Accountability Software
QA00577: Front Display and Full Keypad (M3)

To use a software key you need the flash option. The radio uses ask's by default.

I was told it was going to be rather inexpensive...like $10.
I just noticed that the latest version of APX CPS allows you to load the software keys. I didn't pay attention to the previos versions to see if it was there, but the latest one recognizes them.

That would be nice but won't hold my breath. Yes the new s/w will import old s/w key files and show as loaded, but still won't work. I do beleave you need that new flash option.

After a little research I'm going to say it is this: QA01749 Legacy SW System Key Enable

I have this question..

Has anyone done a field flash upgrade? I had a problem when I got my APX's where /\/\ forgot to enable dual band operation. I ended up sending them down to Boynton Beach because they couldn't provide a field flash for the APX then. This was end of December 2009 when the UHF/7-800 radios first were available...

I did a field flash for a multi-key upgrade just last month. No big deal and worked like it was supposed to.
