Speaker Hum

Post by asmitty0010 »

Got an ASTRO spectra dash mount and there is a terrible hum coming from the speaker. It's not the speaker because i've tried multiple ones. I also put a ground loop isolator on the speaker line - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 602_263622

It took the hum and noise out but now my receive audio is very low. Unplug the isolator and it's back to loud and normal sound but the hum is back. I have other ASTRO units on the same antenna/power supply set up and non have the hum so it's not that. When the radio is receiving audio the transmissions are loud in clear though. It's when scan is on it starts up or the speaker gets muted (not open to receive) it's back.

thanks for any help.

What radios do you own?: HT1550XLS, CDM1550LS+, MTS2000

Is it a smooth hum or more of a clicking? I've seen a radio's clock speed resonate at just the right frequency to come out the speaker. Kenwood's let you shift that clock speed slightly in case that ever happens but for a Moto to do it I think it needs professional service.
