Repeater HELP !

Hi

Need help, after a mistake connecting one repeater cable from EBAY, the one with delay, the RX radio is DEATH, no lighs at all, nothing! The wrong was exchange in the TX to RX, did the TX on RX and the RX on TX ,, saw it to late, after conected it, done a strange sound, i tourned it off, but now with the rite connections, even the RX alone, the radio doesn t turn ON, its absolutly death !
After soo mutch work i see all this upside down!
Can anyone help me!?

Assuming these radios are maxtracs with the RICK-type cable between them, check the IGN CTL jumper on the logic board (If I recall correctly, it's usually a 0-ohm resister near the speaker connection) If this burns out, the radio won't power up without +12v on one of the ACC pins (I don't remember which one off the top of my head, better to replace the jumper/fusible resister)

First we all need to know the radio model .
For example Maxtrac ect.
At any rate id say you have blown the green pico fuse on the logic bd and if so its a simple repair ( assuming its a maxtrac)

Sorry,,,lol,, forgot to mension the principal,, the radio ..its a GM 300 VHF

The green PICO fuse, its where it says CUT FOR IGN CONT , its green its says on it F 2A ??
Without take it out, have measured it, with the multimeter and theres no continuity on it!

Do i take it of , and try to connect both pins ?

Hello:
So far so good.
You have in fact located the pico fuse we are refering to.
And from your info on contnuity = its blown/bad.
Its best to replace the fuse rather than jumper it.
If you jumper it yes id be willing to bet the radio will power up.
But if in the future something like this happens again there will be no fuse to blow and it will more than likely blow the logic bd itself.
If you dont have access to a pico fuse then as a last resort you could go to Radio Shack and get a fast acting 2 amp glass fuse and solder it in with solid leads.

OK, already confirmed, it is the Pico Fuse, the radio works fine jumping the pico fuse place, no i m in Azores islands, it ma be a little difficult to get this kind of fuse.
Saw it on ebay, but it will get almost 2 weeks to got here. Until it get here, ma i use s different kind of fuse in the place ?
I do have allot of electronic garb-itch, in what kind of equipment i can find something similar ?

They are impossible to remove without damage by the average person. The fuse protects the radio from bad accessories and bad accessory wiring (as you found out). If you are confident you have the wiring correct, then you can jumper the fuse with a hair thin strand of wire.

OR

You can order the appropriate fuses, and wait.

OK, i see, already buoyed from ebay 5 pcs, very chip in did. About use thin wire to do the fuse, already done like that but not in so important thing like this, this radio its from an important repeater, should not take risk, better wait some days.

Hello:
Just a hint for you to consider.
DO NOT TRY UNSOLDERING THE PICO FUSE
Instead crush the glass material away from the leads already in the radio going to the bad pico fuse leaving the old fuse leads available to solder the new fuse to.
Needle nose pliers work well for this.
Then solder any type of 2 amp glass fuse as long as it is a fast acting type .

If you already got it unsoldered id leave it as is and solder the new one in.
Apparently you have soldering abilities that some others do not.
Hey thats good for you.
I was just pointing out a easy way of doing it if soldering was a challenge.

Thanks, yes with that i m well ,,,in fact, i can do some things, i made a remote for this repeater with an old cellular, using the 2.5 volts out from the vibration system, it feeds an 3volts rele, which it will turn on a one touch kit with a 10 amp rele. Soo when i send an SMS to that phone it turn on the repeater, repeating the process it turns off. Very good to saves energy, because this is in a small mountain with 10w solar painel and a small wind generator. Still haveing some problems with the one tuch kit, ill need a diferent kind of rele to be on by the smaller, but must be a rele when turns on still on, and off when recives another CLICK , another energy impulse.

There was a time when almost nothing was off the shelf. You had to solve the problem with a handful of parts and whatever radio you had on hand. We built our own tap out systems for fire stations, and irrigation controls for golf courses and farms out of pagers and relays; scan circuits for Mocoms, Mitreks, and Maxars; sally port door interlocks; gate intercoms; dc remote controls; intrusion alarms; crossband repeaters similar to PAC-RT's but not as sophisticated; bridge controls; yarder and crane controls (like a tooter); ... the list could go on. You know what they say about necessity and invention.

There are latching relays that will do what you want.

I have tested a siemens latching relay, its doesnt work, in fact the relay after get an electric impuls in, it turns ON and stay, but to get OFF, the impulse must be in other conector, so can´t use in this it doesnt work, the connect for ON must be the same for OFF, see ?
