CP200XLS Programming Help!

I have a new CP200XLS that I need help programming. While I'm not new to Motorola and programming other models, HT's for instance, I'm having a mental block or something! Here's my set-up:
1. I have approximately 23 Channels (personalities) that I wish to scan. Limit is 16 Ch right?
2. These are all conventional channels and no LTR's.
3. Is "System Scan" going to only scan 16 channels? or will it scan both scan lists? (if I do 2 lists)
4. How do the LTR Talkgroups relate to my situation, since these are conventionals?
5. Do I need to set-up Talkgroups to split up my scan lists.

Help!!! I'm so confused on this one. Any help would be appreciated greatly!

Limit is 16, and you'll need to remove the selected channel from the list if you want to add the 16th member.

Scan list is per personality. There is no way to scan more than 16 channels from a single scan list.

LTR is not relevant, delete the personality so it doesn't show up in the radio.

And for others' reference, the CP200XLS does not support zones, so if you have 128 channels they all get to go in the same zone... Good times for the limited keypad users....

So does that mean when I toggle scan....(it says System Scan) that it will only scan on scan list 1 or will it search scanlist 2 also?
If I want to just scan scanlist 1 and not 2, how would I do that?

Sorry the LTR Sites thing is throwing me way off...It wont allow me to delete site 1 says that 1 is minum required..

Toggling scan means scanning is on or off. The radio will not look at more than one scan list under any circumstance. There is no way to scan more than 16 channels in the radio on a per personality basis (i.e. personality 1 can scan channels 1-16, and personality 2 can scan channels 17-23, by assigning the appropriate scan list, but there is NO way to scan the 2nd list from the first channel or vice versa-- you get 16 channels scanned and that's it).

Don't delete the LTR site, delete the LTR personality/talkgroup or else it will always show up in the radio when cycling through the channel.

So how do you change between scan lists?
Say I have scan list #1 and have scan list #2
each list has 16 channels, right? what do you do to change the lists?
and keep LTR empty correct?

To keep it simple say you have ch 1 thru 16 assigned to scan list 1 and channels 17 thru 32 assigned to scan list 2, I think you can get more complicated on personality setup but lets keep it simple for now.

To start scanning scan list 1 in this example you would need to select one of channels 1 thru 16 to get to scan list 1 and then depending on if you have SYSTEM SCAN(manual scan start) setup for scan list 1 you would then press P2 to get to menu mode, for instance, and then select SYS SCAN to start scanning this list.

If you have AUTO SCAN(automatic scan start) set for lets say all members of scan list 1 then when you set the channel selector to any of ch 1 thru 16, the radio will start scanning without user intervention.

I'm trying to remember if you have to set all of the channels in a list that you want to be AUTO scanned to AUTO or not, I don't remember but I think not ?.

By this I mean assume that you have channels 1 thru 16 set for scan list 1 and only channel 3 is enabled for auto scan of scan list 1, then if you set the ch selector to ch 3 the radio automatically starts scanning, if you are still on a channel in list 1 but with auto scan turned off then you need to press P2 to get to menu then select system scan from the menu list.

No as for editing scan lists from the menu, I haven't made it that far through the manual just yet but I think with this info it should shed some light on scanning with this radio and get you started.

I know that you can assign the same channel to multiple scan list but I like to keep it simple and channelize my scan list in order of groups of 16 channels in numerical order which makes things simple to remember.

To get to the next scan list you need to set your channel selector to a channel that is already set up for the desired scan list, in this case a channel that is enabled for scan list 2.
