Firmware upgrade on XTL2500 with remote control head

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi /\/\ gurus!

How to perform upgrade on XTL2500 with remote control head? I will specify certain points:

1. It' possible at all without putting control head back to the radio body?
2. If YES on question #1, what's connector i can use when in remote head config - 26 pin rear or CGAI in control head?
3. Any risks to get brick or control head sync problems?
4. Any other advices to stay out of mischief?

P.S.
I hope that XTL2500 is very similar to XTL5000 in this process. Therefore experience of XTL5000 owners will be also helpful.

RS232 cable through the mic port on the control head. Be sure to specify to CPS that it's a remote setup. Should run smoothly from there.

A screen will pop up when you enter the control head sync process asking you what kind of set up you have

When it will pop-up? I never tried to upgrade mobiles. After run FLASHport > Upgrade Radio, selecting proper .cvn & etc.?

How much time this upgrade takes? I am in Maintenance Mode for a 35 minutes! And CPS still doing someting. Serial cable attached to the remote head.

Something wrong?

Well its over an hour after your post. If it is still going I would say something is wrong. However my last xtl5000 with an O3 took over 30 minutes via serial. Try to be patient. I can't remember the specific time it took abut I am thinking 45 mins +.

The 20 mins is a lie, trust me. Time to retry the upgrade.

Agreed.

Each time I do this, it seems like the program stops on the same "block," which (from memory; don't hold me to this) was "block 16." Go for a smoke (or maybe a meal) and it should finish eventually.
