Out Of Range

Post by KI4RGV »

The agency I work for recently rebanded but remained analog in 800MHz (Motorola Type 2 Trunking). I have 2 radios on this system. An MTS2000 and a Astro Spectra. These radios are programmed alike and worked fine. I am now getting "Out Of Range" on the Astro Spectra. Can anyone tell me why? They have not been reprogrammed and the MTS2K is OK but the Asttro Spectra is not.

The FC for the Astro Spectra is 500008-000400-7.

I'm not sure what other info you guys need to help me out. Whatever I need, I can get.

BTW, I am not Out Of Range - For the smart @sses out there. LOL

Thank You.

Contact whoever was contracted to do the work of rebanding the subscribers for your system and ask them to determine why the Astro Spectra is not functioning. Assuming it was before, it should be incumbent upon them per the contract to ensure it still is after the process.

Reading your post, I am assuming that your 2 radios were not reprogrammed for the rebanding? Why the MTS2K works, who knows, maybe the radio had some of the newer control channels programmed into it, and the Astro Spectra didn't. Other than that, if they were reprogrammed for the re-banding, then I would say someone missed the new control channel lineup in the codeplug.

Both radios have been rebanded. I have some techs looking at it now. Still don't know what the problem is.

There may be a problem common the Astro Spectras that is causing the OUT of RANGe error.... leaked capacitor(s) on the RF board.

Will - That topic came up. It's not the problem. I have other Trunked Systems in the radio working just fine. It's just one particular system that is giving me trouble.

Mark - I don't want to put it out on BatLabs.

I'll send you an email.
