XTS3000 'Green on Black' Tags

Post by sheldon »

I sent away yesterday my XTS3000 to have replacement 'Green on Black' tags for the model/serial number and the radios flashcode as the current flash details are incorrect and the model/serial number tag removed.

All I had to provide was proof of ownership and /\/\ is charging me only $85 AUS ($70US approx) inc freight.

Is this a reasonable price do you think for replacement tags and re-tuning?

Yeah...Preventative maintenance...Prevent me from maintaining my desire to pay Circle-M for certain things!
No cost benefit, saves me nothing.

If I charged the same for my services, I'd be out on the street, even simple things they do are outrageous in price.

'Basic' service...$280.00 HUH?
Replace a knob, and on/volume control: $238.00(example)..

Cost to manufacture ONE radio, from ONE line: $28.00.....End user: $876.00
Okay, royalty fees per unit: $7.00

What do they require as proof? I'm guessing this only applies to the original owner and not second hand radios?

It is a second hand unit. Had to provide 'Proof of ownership' of previous owner as well as 'Proof of Payment' on my behalf and also a 'Tax Invoice' with serial number etc.

A little over the top I think, but I do want replacement tags so I was happy to oblige.

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

I've sent MTS2000 and Astro 25 portables off with no tags under flat rate, they always came back with depot (white) tags. All of the radios had verifiable histories though and were sent in for repairs.

As predicted, yes it has come back with depot white tags. What amuses me though is you send them a service request for tags of the model and serial numbers and one for the radios flashcode and they return the unit MINUS the flashcode tag.

Well done /\/\, cant follow simple instructions. Spoke to local dealer, they are getting the flashcode tag forwarded to them on my behalf so I dont have to re-send my radio to them.

good luck. moto aust has not issued "original" green tags in many years. let us know what they send you. considering you can buy xts3000's M3's for under $350AUD genuine with legit tags and history why bother with depot ?

Neither has /\/\ US. the green tags went away a LONG time ago. The last few runs of new 3000's even had white tags, Mid '03 they changed to white.

Shame too, the older ones were much nicer.

Depot a 3000? yeah, why, there so cheap now.

Radio returned with white tags that match the details in service mode. Was happy to part with the $85 to have tags and re-tuning.

Yea, I would agree with you on that one, not bad at all. Thats comparable to what a shop would probably charge you now a days to align and PM. Now the $450 full depot service / flat rate would be too much.

Trouble is when you send a radio to the depot in the US, the radio goes to Mexico, & who knows what they'll send back. LOL. GARY N4KVE
