MCS-2000 Splinter channels

I know at some point when attempting to program a VHF MCS2000 with a narrow band splinter (6.25 step) channel I was told by the cps that the firmware needed to be upgraded in order for it to work. Does anyone know the firmware version at which splinter channels were allowed on the mcs2000?
