I am accuiring 18 GP68 radios with speaker mics. I would like the functionality of the speaker mic, but also need to be covert... is there a way to have an earbud or some other sort of earpiece connected while the speaker mic is in operation? I need 18 of these, anyone who has some i could rent for a weekend or buy CHEAP (will only be used once a year for a charity golf tournamnet) Thanks!!!!!!

First of all, the GP68's external connection jack is the same as the GP300 (not the GP350 unless you use an adapter) and P110, so any accessories for those radios should work with the GP68. Second, the only way I can see to do an earpiece while using the speaker/mic is to use a speaker/mic which has an earphone jack installed. Most of the cheap aftermarket speaker/mics have these jacks but the trick is finding one which fits the Motorola dual jack which does not match the spacing commonly found on the Icom/Vertex/Kenwood radios. Suggest you check the Otto website for an appropriate unit. Kendoo, in Florida, also used to sell a speaker/mic with the proper Motorola plugset which, if I recall correctly, did have an earphone jack built in. These mics were light-duty units but worked okay, and they were really inexpensive, like under $20 each.
I owned two GP68's for several years and found them to be very reliable units with great audio.

Here are the current Kendoo references which were found at their site:

Call (305)822-2258, ask for willy. Be patient, they are very busy....he will answer the phone tell him what you want and he will quote you accordingly. He's a good guy and the prices there are the lowest i've seen, plus they service the export product that they sell , so they are a good contact to have. Business hours are mon-fri 9 to 5
