XTS5000 DPL issue

Post by joes243 »

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I can’t find anything. My XTS5000 will unmute for “interference” from something electronic when using a DPL. If I put the XTS5000 next to the HT1250 both monitoring the same frequency and dpl, the XTS5000 unmutes and you hear the static. The HT1250 LED blinks like there is off pl traffic, but it doesn’t unmute. If I set the XTS5000 to use a tpl on the same frequency, it does not unmute for the interference and acts just like the HT1250. I tried all the Unmute/Mute types without success. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Thanks.

What radios do you own?: APX

What firmware version are you running in the 5000? There have been a few bug fixes for DPL issues over the course of the releases.. Here are a few of the Host versions that came out in an effort to correct DPL issues..

Host R09.00.03 had an issue update to correct audio dropouts when DPL is in use

Host R11.00.03 had an issue update for radios using DPL improperly unmute to transmissions w/incorrect DPL code

Host R12.00.10 had an issue update for portables staying in Monitor mode on PL or DPL channels

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Thanks Marc-
My host is 14.00.03. It seems to only happen with this "interference" type Rx. A radio transmitting on the same freq with a different dpl doesn't unmute the radio.

I have some XTS2500's doing the same thing with our DPL codes. Firmware versions R09.00.00 and R10.00.01. Also, I just received 60 new XTS2500's with firmware R14.00.03 and if the previous poster is having issues with this latest firmware then it looks like nothing will change. My biggest issue is fire alarm panels and computers. If you get anywhere near one they unmute and you hear squelch noise and hash. All the affected radios are programmed for Standard Unmuting. I had a complaint yesterday about hearing a co-channel user on one of these portables and they use PL for their tone. Maybee it's a programming issue but I've been over the software several times and can't see anything that was missed that would affect unmuting.

Do you find that it only happens with this type of interference? Normal transmissions on a different pl/dpl don't unmute the radio right?

Correct. Or at least I thought until yesterday. I personally have not experienced the co-channel user interference so I pulled that radio in this morning and checked the programming and it appears to be correct. I have had many complaints about computer interference unmuting the radios. The new fire alarm panels are just glorified computers hanging on a wall. It seems to affect some frequencies in the radio more than others. I was starting to wonder if something was getting into the radio after the mute circuits and causing the amp to turn on but I notice that when the radio unmutes on the noise the red led flashes on top of the radio which indicates it is receiving a signal. By the way, I am using dpl 143 just in case it's code specific. I have the same issue with the HT1000 and it reacts the same way except that they do not unmute just the flashing receive light.

I tried different dpls and they all did the same thing.
