Astro Specrta Key Fail Display

Could any one please tll me what the radio is telling me? Just took delivery of a new in the box, but old stock, Astro Spectra. When powerd up the radio displays "Key Fail" then beeps. It continues doing so till the radio is tuned off.

The radio appears to have an encryption module installed. It's telling you it needs to be 'keyloaded' in order to have 'secure' communications.

If you have no use for encryption, the easiest thing to do (assuming you have programming software) is to uncheck the 'secure equipped' box under the secure settings in the CPS & reprogram the radio. It will ignore the module & the error will go away.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.
