RCH3000 vs MCS2000

Post by Spiffy50 »

Hey gang. I've got an RCH3000 that I'm trying to interface with my MCS2000 M3. I built the cable as described in the manual and double-checked that the RCH was set to MCS mode. When I connect it to the radio, nothing happens - the RCH just shows FAIL 01/90.

I read a few threads on here of people with similar issues, but there was never any resolution. Can anyone give me a hand in getting this thing to play nice?

What radios do you own?: MX300 w/DVP

Are you using an L3208A digitial box between?

No, I am not.

As per a post from wavetar in the past (and the service manual), I don't need the box. The cable between the radio and the RCH is less than the maximum permitted (its less than 5 feet).

It's been many years since I made the cable as per the manual, and I don't have a unit here to test with, but it did work at the time. Are you 100% sure the RJ-45 pinout is correct? It's very easy to make it backwards if you don't catch the orientation note in the picture.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

Checked it 3 times now and verified to be the same wiring as you had posted a few years back.
