PM400 accy connector same as CDM1250?

Post by RADIOMAN2002 »

I have an application where I need to remote a radio with 4 frequencies. I have successfully programmed the accessory connector on a CDM1250 to do it. Can anybody advise as to whether a PM400 can also programmed to be remoted with 4 frequencies. The CDM package is too big to fit in the existing radio box, the PM400 will.

Yes, select 'channel steering' on the accessories page. Binary addressing.

I don't see binary steering, I see control of up to 4 channels. Can you explain better. See post http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.p ... 72#p415372 . This is what I am trying to do.

I called Tech Support this morning, since I haven't actually done one of these in the field yet, but they confirm that the 4 input lines are indeed binary with Channel Select line 1 being least significant digit. YMMV, and there is a tech note about resister placement to select either 'SCI' (single channel input) or some other source, which is probably binary in this case.

Thanks for doing the legwork, can you provide the tech note on that resistor placement? I only have early versions of tech manuals, from when the radios were new (2002) and Motorola came around and gave us the class on them. If that is possible, I may have solved a rather large issue we are having with our new GE Trans R12II radios. We just won't replace the Spectra's with them.
Also could binary addressing be on later firmware versions, I don't see it on my list of accy pin configurations. I am running CDM radio firmware r05.03 and Professional computer software r06.10.11.

I'm confused...you stated in the original post that you were successful in setting this up on the CDM radios...and now you ask for instructions on how to do it with them?

Unless you meant to post your firmware & software versions for the PM400?? If so, I can tell you that it shows 'channel select' as an option under pins 6, 8, 12 & 14 in my CPS, version 5.12...codeplug about 4 years old.

You only need to be concerned about the tech note if you plan on using pin 6...since you only need 4 channels, you can use the other 3 pins & not worry about pin 6.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

Welcome to the /\/\achine.

Sorry for the confusion, I originaly posted about the PM to see if it was capable of the same accy configurations as the CDM. I have been successful in making the CDM work for 4 channels with individual line selects. In the PM software I saw the same capability. Now in addition to, I am trying to make the radio either the CDM or preferably the PM do 16 channels with binary addressing.
