Jedi connection question

Dear all,

First of all, I am sorry that my english is not good.

I had a some JEDI plug which disassembly from voiceducer, and I want to make a headset for my XTS2500, after finding some information from this site, the pin assignment is very clear. However, after I done it, I cannot hear anything from speaker, but mic is OK, that mean transmit is no problem, but cannot receive anything (the radio had received signal).

I test my headset in saber, it is no any problem, and I use the voiceducer / speaker mic to test my XTS2500, it is no problem too.

I use multi-tester to test all the pin
Pin 1 (Option Select 1) connected Pin 8 (Ground)
Pin 2 (External Speaker) connected Speaker +
Pin 3(External Mic) connected Mic +
Pin 5(Option Select 2) connected PTT
Pint 8 (Ground) connected Speaker -, Mic -, PTT

Any idea what's wrong?

Yes, the speaker must connect to both speaker pins as the Jedi has a bridge amplifier. Do NOT ground any speaker leads this could blow up the audio amplifier chip.

If you use an earphone, then it must have a coupling capacitor and the low side would be ground at the radio connector.

Unfortunately this PCB doesn't provide the Speaker Common (Pin 6) to let me connect, do you know how to connect (eg. the capacitor connection and which uF to use) which could not blow up the audio amplifier chip?

Try a 47 uf capacitor from the external speaker pin in series to the speaker or earphone.

Finally I custom made the hi-rose adapter although the aftermarket is not expensive, because I had all necessary parts already.
