Will a STX821 prog cable work correctly on a PA1 polaris rib? If I'm reading the conversion chart for the Motorola to Polaris pins it would place bus+ on the same pin the bus- 1.7bias is supposed to be on. HELP!

Make that PAII polaris rib, not a PAI

It should work just fine, I program my STX821 on a polaris PAII with built in battery pack and it works fine. One thing, Make sure your computer is slower than corky from the TV show "life goes on"

I can't get the radio to read only get a serial bus error which make me think the cable isn't wired correctly or the pc is too fast. Tried it on a 486/DX75 and no go. Is the pinout listed here and in the rib manual correct to use with a Polaris PAII?

I think that computer is a tad too fast...try a 386sx 25 Mhz computer or a 286 w/ a 12 mhz processor, or a 386DX 33 Mhz computer. Lets not forget the STX was made in 1986, which means the software was being developed in 1984-85....I remember buying an IBM PS2 Model 30 286 PC back in 1988 and it was top of the line (over $7000.00) and this was 2 years after the STX was on the market. I cant be sure though that it is not a pin problem...is it woking on other radios made around that time period? Try a Radius P100 or try an HT50. If these dont work..i can almost guarantee you it is the speed of the computer, if they do, you may have a problem with your cable or the contacts on your radio.
