So here's a new one for me...
Could you, without errors, hookup a data switch (simple A/B Switch) to control whether the Rear Head/PA Box or Programming cable is connected to the Spectra? That way one doesn't have to always be switching cables around...?
I/O: connected to the 2nd DB-25 port automatically
A: Rear head/PA Box
B: Programming

Re: Spectra's and Data Switches
Why would you, just add a straight through db 25 connector with a programming pigtail on it. I had my Spectra I use for a base station in the basement wired through a Cat 5 cable to program from the second floor.

I was thinking of going the pig-tail route, but wasn't 100% sure on the cable layout.

I have this on my Spectra. Very convenient & works great. GARY N4KVERADIOMAN2002 wrote:Why would you, just add a straight through db 25 connector with a programming pigtail on it.

Gary,
Can you post or PM me the cable makeup?

A better approach would be to tap into the TTL lines on a HLN1185 siren unit and use that as an interface to the Systems 9000 bus... probably get rid of the "can't have the computer connected because -Busy is held low" issue with the RIB.
