Need remote head cables for Spectra

Post by Sharkman »

I have purchased 2 complete 110 watt Spectra's, model number T83FWA7HA9AK, but they do not have the cables for the remote heads. I understand this is a fairly common scenario. I also have 6 VHF Spectras with the A7 attached face. I am not overly concerned about possibly cannibalizing the A7's. But, what I am wondering is this. Where do I find the remote head cables for the A9's? Or, alternatively, could I cannibalize 2 of the A7 faces, and somehow directly attach them to the 110 watt A9's, making them "Dash Mount" rather than remote mount?

What radios do you own?: Desktrac, XTL/XTS's & XPR's

If you have another cable for the main head, use it. There seems to be no difference between the cables, besides which port they are on and what has been programmed into them.

Your trunk mount hi power drawer may use one of two different remote mount cabling setups. There is no dash mount configuration for these drawers.

This shows how the same A7 front plastic and circuit board are migrated between dash and remote mount setups. The bolt on plastic for the rear of the A7 control head determines which cable will work. The 1502116Z02 rear plastic, systems 9000 style cable also requires an additional HLN6432 circuit board behind the control head board (for used parts, this HLN6432 probably already comes mounted in the plastic).

Just click on the relevant parts of the Control Head Construction & Parts Combination example drawing for more details.

Cabling pin outs for various remote mount radio setups can be found here:

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...
