w9 rear head dump or difference ?

Post by jry »

does anyone have an eeprom dump of a W9 rear head ?

Trying to convert a fron w9 to a rear w9.

Plugged in the spectra firmware and reprogrammed as a rear with the Spectra RSS which worked fine.

As soon as the W9 firmware was re-installed it went back to front operation. Was hoping whatever bits were needed for rear operation would be set wiht the Spectra RSS ...guess not.

Assume I could bit bang what was needed into a front head but not sure were the address is set wiht the W9 firmware.

Think this is really just changing the address on the S9600 bus ...the W3,4,5,and 7 are just set with a jumper on the uP

What radio?

The Spectra uses the A series head, the ASTRO Spectra uses W series heads...

I am assuming that your talking about the Spectra...?

The difference is not in the socketed firmware chip. There is an address in the soldered memory chip on the board that tells it whether its a front or rear head.

That's what I was trying to find out was what location needs to be changed in the EEPROM.

My plan was to use the Spectra CH Bitbanger to mod ...may have to switch to the Spectra firmware to mod and swithc back to the w9 firmware.

Was hoping that the change in the EEProm was the same as for spectra but it appears to be a different location that it checks for it's address.
