Motorola RDX Programming

Post by Bowlieweekender »

I know the CPS for the basic RDX 2 Watt models is a free download. But what is the product name of the CPS that handles the higher power models and allows for frequencies other than the standard to be programmed in?

Also, I bought an RDM2070d off eBay and the standard CPS doesn't like it, anyone know how to program this 7 channel version?

Any help appreciated this end.

Cheers Nigel

Bump... I'm curious about this as well. I would like to get one to use as a small portable to use with my vehicle repeater if it can be programmed outside of the pre-set business frequencies.

I'm also curious if the channel alias on the display can be programmed?

Pretty sure that's Wal Mart CP185... if so then it's not programmable is my understanding...

some of the q&a says certain models are compatable with repeaters so they must be programable? and they are cloneable

I had a customer buy some of these off ebay, thinking they could be used on his licensed repeater system. When I got the radio, I found it could be programmed with repeater freqs, but you have to pick the ones out of the drop box. You can't program anything special into these radios; what you get is what you got.

I think Mother M was smart when they released these, in making them so they can't be programmed to interfere with a licensed user / system.

Also good for us MSS's... Customers can't buy radios dirt cheap on the net and program them to work on their systems using software that's free online. In order to make a radio do exactly what you want it to, consult your nearest MSS. Electromagnetic Radiation? Sounds like magic....

To be clear, the RDM2070D model appears to be a special production model for Wal Mart. It has preprogrammed frequencies and I believe preprogrammed tones as well. It cannot be field programmed. You can only clone radios. It is not a typical RDX, it's made for Wal Mart.
