First pull out your site info. You will need to know your repeater frequencies, what channel numbers they are using (some systems use only every other channel, or maybe channels three through five). It depends on how many repeaters the site is licensed for versus how many are actually in place. You also need to know the Area ID (0 or 1), the bandwidth, and whether or not the system is set up to use compression / expansion and at what level. Front Porch timing is usually radio specific, but you will need to know how many disconnect words to use.

Once you have the site info, you can program your LS personalities. This is basically the same as programming conventional personalities, with scan info, signaling, power level, etc. There is a dropdown box that you can use to select the site you programmed previously. You will need to know your home channel in addition to the talkgroups to enter, i.e. home channel 1 talkgroup 1 is different than home channel 2 talkgroup 1. You will need additional personalities if the different talkgroups will be using different home channels. For a detailed explanation of Universal ID List, do a search on the Batboard for HT750 LS Scan, or click here: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=94696 and view my post. Also check the box if you want Cue Tone. I find this is helpful, and I wish this option was available for conventional personalities, for those users whose mouths are faster than their fingers.

Now you are ready to assign your personalities to zones. This is easier than with conventional zones. You simply create the zone and assign the personality. All the channels (talkgroups) have already been programmed in your LS personality. You can also set up your scan list, but note that you cannot scan individual talkgroups, only personalities. If you need to scan individual talkgroups, you will need to program a seperate personality for each talkgroup, or use the Universal ID List (see above).

Others, any corrections or anything I missed? I am fairly new to this myself, but these things are fresh in my mind as I recently had much trial and error in getting the correct info programmed into a customer's radio on a different shop's site. (Legally, of course!)

1-Create LS trunking site (complete with 0 or 1 area code, freqs, bandwidth, and compression)
2-create LS personality (references site, home channel, and group ID)
3-Create Personality asignment to zone (references above personality where on the knob/up and down arrows your above reference groups are located)

What is the issue you are experiencing? FB
......I understand what the package says sir, but you cannot talk 28 miles with 3 AA batteries.......

Thanks to you both. I have all of the site data entered, as well as the talkgroup ID's...but need to doublecheck the bandwidth. I think that this is where the ussue may be.

The issue might also be that you need to invert the data. There's an entry that lets you change that as well. I've seen at least two or three systems where that needed to be changed from the default in order to work.
