ht-1250 cps lock
My agency is doing the narrow band dance right now, I have about 2000 radios to reprogram. I would like to set the CPS password, but noticed that on the conventional only radios the box is greyed out. The LTR plus conventional radios do have the CPS lock box. Any idea why? Is there a firmware update or some thing else that can be done? The main reason for the password is because radios get lost? They do, and also they get appropriated by others who don't have one, and then they hide them in their lockers. Since we have started the reprogramming process we recovered about 10 radios that didn't belong to the individuals who had them. Including one of our radio shop radios that have channels that the rank and file are not supposed to have. Any hacks out there that would enable it?

Have you tried to update the firmware to see if allows you to use the password? I try and update all these portables and CDM mobiles when I see them.

Re: ht-1250 cps lock
i'll bet the 1250's that won't let you do that are 5an radios? you can try upgrading the firmware or writing a codeplug from another radio that the lock feature works on to one that it don't and see what that does? there's no hacks to enable that feature but there are a couple to get around them to remove the password

Re: ht-1250 cps lock
The radios are with current firmware 05.14 or 05.16. They are both 5an and 6an, neither have the software lock. Strange that some radios have it and others don't. I'll try Motorola and see if they can shed any light on this issue. Really could use the feature.
Re: ht-1250 cps lock
Well, the help file says you can only set a password for the portables if they are multi-line display models, i.e. HT1550. I suspect the reason the trunking radios support it is so people can't steal the data bus on an LTR/PP radio if they try to read it. Sysadmins are wise to be protective of the bus

Re: ht-1250 cps lock
i've been going thru all of the 1250's that i have too and i've always wondered why i couldn't lock some of them but i can't find something different with the radios that make them do that, they all have new firmware and if i read one that i can lock and write that to a radio that won't lock, it still won't lock after being cloned so it must be something in the radios. they have the same model numbers. and i've tried this with uhf and vhf radios i have, just some lock and some don't for some reason. i'd like to know if anyone figures it out?
