Antenna Kit Differences
Hello. I have 2 Motorola Antenna Kits; one HAD4008A, 152-162 range and one HAD4009A, 162-174 range. Other than the obvious difference, frequency range, is their any other difference between the two? I don't have them in front of me right now, but how could I tell them apart if I didn't know the difference? Thanks in advance. Henry

Re: Antenna Kit Differences
Length of the antenna whip. Generally speaking, lower in frequency equals longer in length.
Re: Antenna Kit Differences
Aside from the whip length diffference for the differing frequencies, the kits are identical in all other respects.

While where on it anyone get why the low split VHF 1/4 wave has that removable washer for impedance matching but gets removed when used with mid and high split whips ?

Slightly OT: there is the PCTEL MWV1365S 136-174 MHz 38 MHz 1/4 whip that has a base compensation network that offers the same gain as a normal 1/4 but covers the whole VHF band without tuning.

That washer matches the impedance at the low range in the base/antenna mount. AKA large button NMO antenna mount.RadioSouth wrote:While where on it anyone get why the low split VHF 1/4 wave has that removable washer for impedance matching but gets removed when used with mid and high split whips ?
