XTS5000 with distorted TX audio

Post by whitenoise »

Hello

I have an XTS5000 that is experiencing intermittent audio distortion on transmit (sometimes, distorted, sometimes clicking, sometimes feedback oscillation). Receive operation is fine. The audio problem occurs in analog or ASTRO mode. I have tried moving the VOCON board into another XTS5000 (different RF board) and the problem follows the VOCON board. I have checked for mis-aligned connectors etc. and don't see anything obvious. The radio has worked in the past but has seen little use for a few months. The only thing I did recently that I am curious about is that I recently wrote a cloned codeplug into the radio. That is, I took a codeplug from another XTS5000 (same feature set/flashcode) using the Clone option in CPS. The intermittent TX audio distortion showed up after this. I have since gone back to the original codeplug but the distortion remains. Any ideas? Or shall I move this VOCON board over the junk pile ?

thanks.

Ship it to Motorola and have the VOCON replaced for the flat rate fee.
