Remote kill/stun in P25 onventional mode

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

I tried search and found similar topic but about Tactical Inhibit. But my question is about possibilities to remotely kill Motorola radio (without having H02 option in radio) by using any kind of Motorola dispatch software or Motorola console (hardware or software). E.g. by sending come special command in P25 conventional mode (in talkaround or via Quantar repeater).

1. It's possible to kill Motorola XTS/XTL radio by similar way?
2. There are any standard commands in Project 25 about remote radio kill/stun?
3. Centracom Gold Elite console can do remote kill/stun? What's console and radio should have to make it possible (I mean hardware, software, FLASHport options, iButton & etc.)?

P.S.
I am not interesting how to kill radio, but I want to know about any risk about to get killed radio when work in amateur or any kinds of foreign repeaters and direct channels.

If you are using P25 conventional, NON-trunked, mode, I don't believe that there is any way another radio would be able to identify your radio's transmission.

Why not? Astro radios transmits UID even when in conventional P25 mode, many ways exist to capture it (Display ID feature, Quantar logs, Motorola console, scanner).

Its very easy in P25. P25 conventional inhibit is the exact same packet/command for Trunked and conventional. In trunked mode the Inhibit TBSK is sent over the control channel. In Conventional mode its sent over the conventional channel.

All you need to do is send the command with the correct destination radio ID and it will be killed.

Tactical inhibit is a different kettle of fish and it doesn't use the standard P25 commands.

Thanks!

1. But it's theory or practice?
2. It's work for Motorola XTS/XTL?
3. What radio should have to correctly understand and carry this command (FLASHport option, some settings in CPS & etc.)?
4. What's Motorola equipment able to send this command?

1) The theory and practice are the same. (yes it works)
2) Yes it does, since these are P25 radios. You will need to ensure that inhibit is enabled in the codeplug
3) Any radio marketed as a P25 radio. The current XTS/XTL radios fit into this category.
4) I don't know. At a guess, Motorola consoles would be a starting point.

Cheers,
Matt

So, if you don't have the remote kill/stun option on you radio, then some rogue cannot kill/stun your radio?

Where you seen such option? Icom? Motorola looks like have no stun/kill feature, but have Tactical Inhibit only. Correct?

Is the killed Motorola radio (in 9600 trunking or P25 conventional mode) will accept old codeplug from usual CPS and resume normal operation? I am asking about usual kill, not about Tactical Inhibit (which requires H02/H04 and ASK).

No, cps and a saved codeplug will NOT fix an inhibited astro 25 radio. The depot can or the console/system that inhibited it can.

What you call Inhibited radio? Radio without H02/H04 (as ASK!) can be Inhibited?

Radio without H02/H04 options can be inhibited (killed)?

The point is its been answered several times in this thread. Tactical Inhibit is a flash option, its different than a standard inhibit. The standard inhibit can be sent via an astro conventional system, a trunked system or analog mdc. It can only be unhibited with depot/lab software or by the method it was inhibited by. No flash option required.
