Phoenix Fire Department
Did a ride out with PHX Fire while I was down visiting and noticed they had yellow antennas for their XTS5000 portables on the 800 MHz system. Just wondering if there is a moto part number for these or if this was a PHX DIY project. Any info would be appreciated.

I believe that was done in house by PFD. The yellow antennas were to easily distinguish the 800MHz radios from the VHF radios. (Yes we radio geeks can tell the difference easily)

I will be at their radio shop this month and will try and get a part number if there is one.
Re: Phoenix Fire Department
Tape near the end of the antenna is too difficult, eh? Gotta re-engineer the wheel sometimes.....

The design review committee meetings would have been fascinating.

i just use different color shrink tube to identify mine. a little 3m spray adhesive on the antennae then shrink the tube into place

Yeah that's what we've started using as well: shrink tube. Works well enough for identification. Two different radios, two different systems, two different headaches.
That sounds good. Let me know if you find anything out.radioinstl wrote:I will be at their radio shop this month and will try and get a part number if there is one.
