CDM750 Wiring

Ok I need to wire a CDM 750 into my pickup. I'm getting conflicting info from my dealer. Do I need to connect the radio directly to the battery, then run a new wire to some type of ignition wire that will plug into the acc. port? Or do I run the cable to a switched source, then still have to do something on the acc port? Thanks!

you can do it either way, directly to the battery will do away with any of the cars wiring that might not be able to handle the load and just add the ignition sense wire to pin 10 I believe on the back of the radio and you'll be set. or a 3rd option is still directly to the battery but with a relay for the trigger

It depends on how you want it to operate. Do you want the radio to come on and go off automatically with the ignition key? If so, you need to have an ignition sense wire to pin 10 (and have the radio programmed to follow ignition) as well as the heavy power cable run to a power source (battery).

If you just want to manually turn on/off the radio, then you just need the heavy power cable run to a power source (battery) and have the radio programmed properly.

Good advice from the other two posts.

One thing I would like to add is that the Black (Ground) wire should NOT be connected directly to the battery, but to a chassis point somewhere near the battery. This is to prevent your radio becoming the ground path for another heavy load in the vehicle (i.e., starter), and damaging the radio.
