MOTOROLA ASTRO PDR3500 Repeater's TX Idle Frequency

How to cut the PDR3500 Repeater's TX Idle Frequency ? Because i don't want to the TX idle frequency non stop to TX . Thanks!

I've never dealt with a PDR3500, so I don't know the procedure, but other repeaters such as the MTR2000 allow you to set the idle frequency to something other than the default TX frequency...but it generally isn't done unless it's giving a problem. Are you having issues with the idle frequency?

The TX idle frequency is just that - where the transmitter goes when it's idle. It's not making full power on that frequency, it's just where the exciter parks itself. You should be able to program it to another frequency if it's bothering you when the station isn't keyed, but as for completely getting rid of it, I don't think you'd want to do that. It's not actually putting out any appreciable amount of power when it's idling.

The point of the idle frequency is when the Quantar (of which the PDR3500 is a derivative) is used as a base on a single frequency simplex channel. You obviously don't want a low power transmitter going continuously on the same frequency as you're trying to receive on!

When the Quantar or PDR3500 is used as a repeater the idle frequency should be set the same as the normal repeater TX frequency to reduce keying time (avoids the time it would otherwise take for the VCO/PLL to lock when changing frequencies).
