XTS5K MDC ID Display issue

Post by MT2000 man »

Hello all !

On my XTS5000 Mod. III UHF I have a slight issue with it decoding MDC1200 ID's (and YES, it DOES have Digital ID Display in the flash :) ). For some reason, it only displays the MDC ID's on PRE key-up, and NOT post-key up. I have both ID Display and Scan ID Display checked in the PTT ID menu in the CPS, but it's still only displaying the ID's that key up PRE, and not POST. (This happens when the radio is either in scan, or not in scan).

Anything I'm missing in the CPS ? I know on my MTS2000 it displays BOTH leading, and trailing MDC1200 ID's, so I know the XTS5000 HAS to be capable of displaying both as well.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated !

I know in the XTS3000 CPS there's an option for End of Voice Timer (under PTT ID under Display/Menu)... Basically sets the amount of time that an ID stays up after a voice transmission ends. I think the default is zero. Maybe there's something similar in the XTS5K CPS?

It will display the ID (the just the PRE MDC ID's) for the duration of the open squelch. But like I said, the frequency's with the MDC ID's coming ONLY at the post/end of the transmission, it will not display anything. Seems rather odd, unless I missed a box to check off in the CPS or something.

Oh, and I just checked my CPS settings for the End Of Voice Timer, and it is already set at "0".

0 (zero) usually meens OFF. Try changing it to 1 and see what happens.

Yes, sorry... I didn't explain myself enough. The default is zero, which is undesirable. Since it's a POST id, the voice transmission has already ended, so it keeps it up for 0 seconds, meaning it... doesn't show up :)

Well, the problem is fixed ! The End Of Voice Timer was the culprit, as another poster suggested !

I changed the value from "0" to "3", and that did the trick ! Evidently if you have it set to "0" it will NOT display the MDC ID if it's POST.

Problem solved, thank you everyone for your help !

Oh, and these XTS5000's are AMAZING radios. This is my first 5K (a fully loaded FPP UHF Model III), and it runs circles around my 3000's, MTS2000's, etc.
