Commandstar Lite CSDM

Post by fireguy810 »

Trying to connect to the Commandstar Lite console with the system database manager. It's showing "Link down" in the bottom right hand corner of the screen.
Called Motorola, they said it must be the cable but I tested it and its fine.

Any other suggestions? Port settings?

I've only set up one CommandStar Lite console, but never had any issues with connecting. The 'link down' means the software cannot communicate with the console (obviously). Assuming the cable & console are good, I'd look at your programming setup. Are you using an unsupported OS like Vista or Win 7? Are you using a real serial port, or a USB-to-serial converter?

I've experienced the same issue, and it turned out to be the version of CSDM I was using. CSDM is NOT universal between units, it always pays to have the latest version of it as it is backwards-compatible. It has to do with the firmware version installed in the console.

Remember anything using CSDM isn't really made by Motorola, it's made by CML, so keep that in mind when you experience screwy behavior, etc.

My suggestion is to try a different version of CSDM.

I pity the poor souls using CommandStar Lite. Not my favorite.
