Quantar end of transmission chirp

Post by tac9461 »

Have a Motorola UHF Simulcast system. (16 quantars)

Radio shop did some reprogramming and system adjustments today and now the repeaters are chirping at the end of a transmission (almost like a courtesy beep).

Does anyone know what it means? It's not the standard alert beeps it's more like a chirp at the end of a transmission (dekey). Although the console (wire lined) does not do it.

Any ideas?

Thanks !

Is this occurring immediately after a subscriber unkeys, but before the base stations unkey?

If so, it might be 2175Hz status tone from the receiver to comparator links that you're hearing, and someone forgot to turn a notch filter back on.

The fact that the console doesn't do it would support this, as the console doesn't deal with the receiver to comparator links from a transmit standpoint, and it does not pass through those notch filters.
